Theater as a practical tool for health promotion: a proposal for acting through the body from a psychoanalytic perspective

Author: Roberto de Aguiar Junior
Advisor: Profa. Dra. Ana Paula Parada

The dissertation “Theater as a practical tool for health promotion: a proposal for acting through the body from a psychoanalytic perspective”, authored by student Roberto de Aguiar Junior, presents a work proposal based on Resolution 101, Law 6.368/76 (ANVISA), aimed at implementing Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) in the SUS by including counter-hegemonic activities in health promotion and care actions, highlighting, in this case, the use of art. Thus, the dissertation aimed to investigate the use of theatrical dynamics as group techniques to promote mental health, in order to observe possible emotional expressions and psychological phenomena emerging during practices with patients undergoing chemical rehabilitation treatment, and thus develop a care program for this population, based on expression through dramatic art.

Linked to the research project “Demands and actions of mental health in contexts of collective health care”, in research line 2, referring to adult mental health in different institutional contexts, the dissertation adheres to the area of concentration of the Professional Master's Program in Institutional Practices in Mental Health (PPG), related to mental health in institutional contexts, since the work was developed in an Association for the Assistance of Chemical Dependents, with women users of the institution, who were temporarily hospitalized for chemical rehabilitation treatment. In particular, the technical and technological product (TTP) resulting from this dissertation stands out. The PTT, “Guidelines for the use of theater as a tool for health promotion: dialoguing with art and psychoanalysis”, aims to present guidelines for the use of theater as a group work tool for health promotion, constituting a new work tool for psychologists working in health promotion, by suggesting the non-verbal and verbal expression of psychic contents, facilitating self-knowledge. It thus complies with the resolution on the implementation of PICS in the health system.

For the student's defense, the external evaluator was Prof. Dr. Joana Filipa Afonso Monteiro, who has worked extensively in group work and psychodynamic theories, and the internal evaluator was Prof. Dr. Isabel Cristina Carniel, who is responsible for the research project “Practices of social reintegration and promotion of citizenship in the context of mental health” at the PPG.
The study carried out by the student in his dissertation and the PTT that resulted from it have made potential scientific and technological contributions, since it has so far generated an article in an international journal.

From this context, it is considered that the impact of the work on society can be considerable, while at the same time leading to the fulfillment of the PPG's mission of transforming mental health actions in society, generating healthy development for human beings and a better quality of life for them, working together with various institutions, based on a consolidated scientific framework that underpins its actions of developing technical and technological products and scientific knowledge, capable of improving the mental health conditions of its final audience, the Brazilian population.

Stress management and control program with a focus on physical activity: a proposal for health professionals

Author: Maria Fernanda Pinheiro da Silva
Advisor: Prof. Dr. Paulo Eduardo Benzoni

The dissertation “Stress management and control program with a focus on physical activity: a proposal with health professionals”, written by student Maria Fernanda Pinheiro da Silva, aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a structured program of psychoeducation and recreational physical activities for the management and control of occupational stress.

Linked to the research project “Psychosocial intervention, with a focus on stress in workers affected by work-related health problems”, in research line 2, referring to adult mental health in different institutional contexts, the dissertation adheres to the area of concentration of the Professional Master's Program in Institutional Practices in Mental Health (PPG), on mental health in institutional contexts, since the work was carried out in health institutions, a charity hospital and a Basic Health Unit, with adult workers, aimed at promoting and improving occupational health. In particular, the technical and technological product (TTP) resulting from this dissertation stands out. The PTT “Occupational stress management and control program with multicomponent activities: application protocol” is intended to be a detailed protocol, using multicomponent methodologies that make it possible to change workers' attitudes and behaviors towards healthier habits.

It is known that mental health, especially stress, requires an interdisciplinary approach and that physical activity is an important ally in this process. Thus, a study that combines recreational physical activity with concepts from psychology demonstrates interdisciplinarity in action and has enabled significant results to be achieved, as observed in the data analysis carried out in this dissertation.

For the student's defense, the external evaluator was Prof. Dr. Jose Claudio Jambassi Filho, Physical Educator and PhD in Physical Education, professor at the Padre Albino Foundation, and since the work involved cognitive changes, the internal evaluator was Prof. Dr. Marta Regina Goncalves Correia Zanini, responsible for the research project “Mental health, development and social skills in educational contexts and adverse situations” at the PPG.

The study developed by the student in her dissertation and the PTT that resulted from it, have presented themselves with potential scientific and technological contributions, since it generated a book chapter, published in 2024, in a work that explores the interfaces of Psychology with other areas. The graduate has also used the program in her professional activities.

The PTT is considered to have great potential for use, especially with the entry into force of the new Regulatory Standard - NR-1, which now includes aspects related to the promotion, prevention and care of workers' mental health among occupational safety issues.

A study on dropouts from a technical course in administration: a proposal for a group intervention focusing on professional choices

Author: Eleise Galter Andreoli Lotito
Advisor: Profa. Dra. Caroline Francisca Eltink

The dissertation “Study on dropout in a technical course in administration: a proposal for group intervention with a focus on professional choices”, written by student Eleise Galter Andreoli Lotito, aimed to understand the factors that lead students to enroll in a technical course in Administration and to design a group intervention program for these students, focused on the participants' professional choice and whether or not they stay in the course. The technical courses covered in this work are offered by SENAC - Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial, a respected educational institution.

Linked to the research project “Mental health problems in the educational context and their effects on human development processes”, in research line 1, referring to mental health and the different institutional contexts for the development of children and adolescents, it can be seen that the dissertation adheres to the PPG's area of concentration, relating to mental health in institutional contexts, since the work was carried out at an educational institution, in this case SENAC, and aimed at adolescents.

In particular, the technical and technological product (TTP) resulting from this dissertation stands out. The PTT “Professional choices: a practical guide to group intervention for students on high school technical courses”, resulted from the dissertation and is intended to be the detailed protocol for a group intervention program with adolescents taking technical courses, to prevent school dropout, a problem detected by the SENAC institution.

For the student's defense, the external evaluator was Prof. Dr. Luciane Sa de Andrade, from the University of São Paulo and with international experience in the subject, and since the work involved aspects related to education, the internal evaluator was Prof. Dr. Selma Aparecida Geraldo Benzoni, responsible for the research project “Sexual education in institutions as a resource for the development of mental and sexual health” in the Professional Master's Program.

The study developed by the student in her dissertation and, in particular, the PTT resulting from it, was promptly absorbed by SENAC - SP and implemented, at state level, in all the technical courses offered by the institution. The student, now a graduate, took on the role of coordinator and trainer in the implementation of the program developed in her dissertation at SENAC - SP.

PTT is considered to have great potential for use, especially since it has been adopted by the institution as a complementary resource for technical courses and because of the partial results of this implementation, which are already being observed. Thus, based on this context, it is considered that the impact of the work on society is being considerable, while at the same time leading to the fulfillment of the PPG's mission of transforming mental health actions in society, generating healthy development for human beings and a better quality of life for them, working together with different institutions, based on a consolidated scientific framework that underpins its actions of developing technical and technological products and scientific knowledge, capable of improving the mental health conditions of its final audience, the Brazilian population.

Creation and analysis of a card game for developing non-stressful leadership

Author: Andrea Richinho Silveira Cruz
Advisor: Prof. Dr. Paulo Eduardo Benzoni

The dissertation “Creation and analysis of a card game for developing non-stressful leadership”, written by student Andrea Richinho Silveira Cruz, aimed to develop and analyze a card game as a psychosocial intervention tool for leaders, based on theories about leadership and occupational stress, with the aim of promoting healthy leadership attitudes and improving mental health in the workplace.

Linked to the research project “Psychosocial intervention, focusing on stress in workers affected by work-related health problems”, in research line 2, referring to adult mental health in different institutional contexts, the dissertation adheres to the area of concentration of the Professional Master's Program in Institutional Practices in Mental Health (PPG), relating to mental health in institutional contexts, since the work was developed in organizational contexts, with an adult audience and focused on care related to the development of less stressful work environments.

Particularly noteworthy is the alignment of the technical and technological product (TTP) resulting from his dissertation with the research project and linked to the PPG's student training criteria. The PTT “Leader's Anti-Stress Deck” is intended to be a tool in the form of a structured game that enables organizational psychology and human resources professionals to work with organizational leaders to develop non-stressful attitudes in the team.

Prof. Dr. Vania Maria Jorge Nassif, professor of the PPG in Business Administration at UNINOVE-SP and the PPGP in Administration at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation-SP, was invited as an external evaluator for the student's defense. As this is a technique focused on education and training, the internal evaluator was Prof. Dr. Caroline Francisca Eltink, who is responsible for the research project “Mental health problems in the educational context and their effects on human development processes” in the Professional Master's Program.

The study developed by the student in her dissertation and, in particular, the PTT that resulted from it, the “Anti-Stress Leader's Deck”, has made potential scientific and technological contributions, since the student was invited to present her PTT at the Professional Master's Program in Management for Competitiveness at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation - SP and, also, as soon as it was published, it was acquired by the Estrela Supermarket chain in Presidente Prudente - SP, to be integrated into leadership training in compliance with the new Regulatory Standard - NR-1, which now includes mental health aspects among safety issues at work.

With the rapid insertion of the PTT, resulting from the dissertation, into the human resources training materials market, already observed in the first three months after the student's defense, it is considered that the impact of the work on society can be considered relevant, while at the same time leading to the fulfillment of the PPG's mission of transforming mental health actions in society, generating healthy development for human beings and a better quality of life for them, working together with various institutions, based on a consolidated scientific framework that underpins its actions to develop technical and technological products and scientific knowledge, capable of improving the mental health conditions of its final audience, the Brazilian population.

Adolescents' experiences in the “preparation for the world of work” program - socio-affective, professional and gender aspects: Winnicottian contributions

Author: Ricardo Felipe Teodoro Garcia
Advisor: Profa. Dra. Selma Ap. Geraldo Benzoni

The dissertation “Experiences of adolescents in the ‘preparation for the world of work’ program - socio-affective, professional and gender aspects: Winnicottian contributions”, written by student Ricardo Felipe Teodoro Garcia, aimed to analyze the social, emotional and professional changes that occur in adolescents when they take part in the “preparation for the world of work” program, as well as to examine the difference between the male and female gender perceptions of the participants. The “preparation for the world of work” program is run by SENAC - Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial, a respected educational institution.

Linked to the research project “Sexual education in institutions as a resource for the development of mental and sexual health”, in line of research 1, referring to mental health and the different institutional contexts for the development of children and adolescents, it can be seen that the dissertation adheres to the area of concentration of the Professional Master's Program in Institutional Practices in Mental Health (PPG), on mental health in institutional contexts, since the work focuses on institutional work, the line of research, since it was carried out with adolescents, and the research project, addressing gender issues in educational processes.

Particularly noteworthy is the alignment of the technical and technological product (TTP) resulting from her dissertation with the research project and linked to the PPG's student training criteria. The PTT, the deck “The Knots of Gender at Work”, was the result of a gap observed in the speech of the participants in his dissertation and its purpose is to be a tool that enables educators to foster discussions with adolescents about respectful conduct in the workplace, reflecting on the discriminatory and trivialized information of everyday life, which ratifies implicit and explicit sexual and gender violence.

For the student's defense, the external evaluator was Prof. Dr. Alexandre Patricio de Almeida from PUC-SP, a professor who has excelled in work focused on Winnicottian psychoanalysis, and the internal evaluator was Prof. Dr. Caroline Francisca Eltink, who is responsible for the research project “Mental health problems in the educational context and their effects on human development processes” at the PPG.

The study developed by the student in his dissertation and, in particular, the PTT that came from it, the deck “The Knots of Gender”, has presented itself with potential scientific and technological contributions, since the student, now a graduate, in his work at SENAC - SP, acts as a multiplier of the culture of peace and sexuality and gender program and the PTT is being analyzed by the educational institution where the student works, for implementation as a didactic-pedagogical resource in the “Preparation for the world of work” programs, thus serving as a tool that will make it possible to fulfill the PPG's mission of transforming mental health actions in society, generating healthy development for human beings and a better quality of life for them, working together with various institutions, based on a consolidated scientific framework that underpins its actions of developing technical and technological products and scientific knowledge, capable of improving the mental health conditions of its final audience, the Brazilian population.
