Since 2008, the PPGEP/UNIP has instituted Strategic Planning (SP) and has been working with the adoption of objectives and goals that are established for each evaluation cycle, based on the perspectives and potential of the group that works in the Program, in addition to the suggestions and criticisms arising from the CAPES Evaluation Process. The adoption of this procedure by the PPGEP, given the time that has elapsed since its implementation, i.e. around 16 years, demonstrates the correctness of the proposal, which enables the Program's teachers and students to migrate to the new methodology in a more organic way.
Methodology
The SP was drawn up in accordance with the guidelines of the Engineering III area document and a critical analysis of the results of the 2017/20 CAPES quadrennial evaluation, in its comments and assessments. The recommendations of the CAPES Commission, which visited the program in 2023, were also taken as guidelines.
The SP was structured around the following topics:
- Alignment of the SP with the University's mission and other documents such as the Bylaws, Internal Regulations and the Institutional Development Plan (PDI), as well as others specific to postgraduate studies and the Program itself.
- Preparation of the SWOT Matrix (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats)<./li>
- Breakdown of the SWOT matrix into strategic, tactical and operational actions to be developed in order to reduce weaknesses, maximize strengths, take advantage of opportunities and mitigate threats. Definition of quantitative targets where appropriate.
Document structure
The SP is structured as follows:
- Introduction, with the context and methodology used to carry it out.
- Alignment with the institution's IDP and statement of the program's focus.
- SWOT matrix.
- Actions and goals for the program.
Following the SWOT analysis, the program's strategy was defined with a view to reducing weaknesses, maximizing strengths, taking advantage of opportunities and mitigating threats. This strategic approach, based on the SWOT analysis, made it possible to define targets and improvement actions in line with CAPES criteria.
